Stone Mountain School for Boys with ADHD & Learning Differences Welcomes New Clinical Director
Stone Mountain School welcomes Charles Flagler, Psy.D., as the head of its clinical team. Dr. Flagler is a North Carolina licensed psychologist with a doctorate and two master’s degrees in clinical psychology. His specialties include child and family psychology, developmental psychology and behavioral psychology.
With 30 years of experience in the field of mental health treatment, 16 of which were in residential treatment settings, Dr. Flagler is an ideal match for the students at Stone Mountain School. He served as a direct care provider at a hospital and as a director in a residential school in his home town of Miami before moving to North Carolina to work in a variety of residential and hospital settings.
In his free time, Dr. Flagler enjoys running and hiking in the mountains of western North Carolina and taking in the social and cultural sights of Asheville. His hobbies include cars, yoga and music.
Working with boys with ADHD and related issues is a passion for Dr. Flagler. “These boys are engaging and full of untapped potential,” he said. “It is an honor to work with them and watch as they begin to fulfill that potential.”
In his role as clinical director, Dr. Flagler plans to strengthen the therapeutic milieu in innovative ways and fully utilize the different personalities and strengths of both students and staff.
“In addition to being an exceptional school for boys with learning differences, we help students address their emotional and behavioral needs as well, using the best therapies and behavioral supports available,” said Dr. Flagler.
The rest of the staff at Stone Mountain School has extended a warm welcome to the newest member of the school’s leadership team.
“Dr. Flagler has many years of experience in therapeutic and residential programming, and his input will bring even greater depth to Stone Mountain School’s already sophisticated clinical services,” said Jake Weld, M.Ed., the school’s Academic Director. “We’re very excited to have him on board as we continue to enhance the services we provide to boys and their families.”
